Saw this on DDD's on foddnetwork and was intrigued to drive down to So St Pete to see for myself. It is a nostalgic throwback to the diner of old, Exactly as I imagined! The service was extremly fast and friendly despite the place being packed. I wanted to order the special I saw on DDD, the chicken hash, but I did not see on the menu so I went for the 2nd item featured ont he show, the grilled pork chop. My firned got the famous fried chicken. Both items were $7.25 with 2 sides.... WHAT a deal!!! The chicken was by far the better deal, it was 3 large pieces of awesomly fried chicken and was yummy!!! The pork chop was a bit of a let down. It was thin and over cooked...No juice left in that pig!!! Unlike the show where Guy pinched it and it was dripping with juice!! This was barely thicker then bacon! The mashed potatoes where awesome and homemade for sure. The mixed veggies were...Uuugh... BUT overfirst exp was worth another try! I'll def go get that chicken!!!

Solid little breakfast spot. Milkshakes with breakfast are awesome. Not the best breakfast I've ever had but far from the worst!! Clean, friendly staff, best breakfast on the southside for sure...

Been going there for years, and always happy with the good, solid, old-fashioned breakfast and great service. We moved to the north end of St. Pete, though, and tried to find something else closer to us. Everything has been a disappointment, with mostly surly servers and mediocre food. We're back to Munch's, even if it is kind of a long drive these days. Well worth it. Try the field hash -- my husband's favorite!

It was on DD&D so the wife and I decided to check it out. She had the open faced roast beef sandwich and I have the Wednesday special of a Cuban sandwich. Her roast beef was great with the gravy being especially good. My Cuban was ok, I had to send it back because it was a little cold but after I got it heated up a bit it was good. The staff was super nice, my wife ordered a malt and they gave us enough for two. If you in the area check them out. Small little spot good for a change of scenery!

This place is the real thing. The food is short order but some of the tastiest stuff you'll find. Plus they have items that you can't find anywhere else - Texas Hash, Aunt Sandy's Country Sausage, FGT, and the daily specials. This is my favorite breakfast place in the world and I hope they are around another 60+ years. The waitresses are super friendly and your cup will never be empty. You're going to be full when you leave, so make sure you take some apple pie to go!

I got to spend a couple of days in the Burg with my man Johnny G. One morning we headed to Munch's for breakfast. Munch's has been around forever. They serve unpretentious food at reasonable prices, and they do a pretty good job with everything they make. Once upon a time you could find a joint like Munch's in almost every part of every town, but that's no longer the case. The clientele is mostly local but they have devotees all over the area. This would include downtown office workers who make a pilgrimage to Munch's on Tuesday for the fried chicken, or repairmen who plan their day so they can be nearby at lunchtime. The breakfast I had wasn't particularly memorable, and the service was nothing special either. But it was comforting to see the class pictures of kids from Lakewood Elementary in the '50s and '60s, and to know that these folks are still coming to Munch's. Some things are hard to measure, and those are the things you generally can't find at a chain restaurant. St. Petersburg is well-served by still having places like Munch's, the Chattaway, Ted Peters', and other spots that have stood the test of time.

Food was very good. Service was good, workers were SUPER friendly. prices reasonable. Came here because we saw it on Diners, Drive ins & Dives.

Maybe lunch is better? I heard this place was visited by diners drive ins and dives, so i figured its gotta be great. However, corned beef hash was out of a can, hash browns tasted like they were frozen then microwaved, and their biscuit was like an Ashford and Simpson hit... solid as a rock. I'm curious what they served on DDD, so maybe i'll go back and try whatever Guy Fieri gets.

I saw this place on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, so of course being that it is only about 20 minutes from my house, I felt obliged to check it out. Driving up to the place is a little sketchy and from the outside, it's clear that the restaurant definitely fits into the"dives" category. But despite its lackluster facade, you walk in and it's clear that this place is doing something right. There's a line of about 6 or 7 hungry patrons all packed into the small store front. The smell of home fries and coffee wafts from the kitchen and the waitress from the counter comes dashing by, joking about how nobody wants to sit at the counter. While I wait to be seated, I can't help but be entertained by the nostalgic and kitschy decorations on the walls. Tie dye shirts for sale and various old photos including a grade school class photo from a local school taken in the 1950s and a photo of "miss. St. Pete, 1962." the ambience is just perfect and the food is not that bad either. I got the biscuits and gravy and my boyfriend got the Texas Hash, which is a spicy chicken and potato hash that was full of flavor. As far as biscuits and gravy goes, theirs is stick-to-your-ribs good! The eggs were underdone and out waffle was overlooked, which is why I rated it a four instead of a five. But overall, the experience was great. I think a good breakfast place is one that's inexpensive, unpretentious and packed with people, which this place is. I will be back, for sure!

Food was good. Deb, our Waitress was great! With food prices in general going up it is expected that food quality goes down to maintain the cheap prices. You want to pay high prices - go somewhere else and be treated like the number you become. OR You can pay far less here and have the feeling that you are eating at grandma's table again.

The biscuits are as seductive as the fresh perfume of coffee. Indulge in the cacophony of regulars and waitresses. Even for those nomadic by nature you will find the comfort of home inside this little sundries paradise.

Decided to dine here after my husband discovered it on DDD. Cute mom and pop place with really sweet staff members who are more then willing to accommodate your order any way you choose. We dinned on the following: Corned beef and Hash - DO NOT order this! You will be scared for life! I swear it tasted like Cat food. Seriously disturbing. Biscuits and gray - good, our one saving grace for this meal Creamed Chipped beef w/hash browns and scrambled eggs - my husband forced this down, and later wished he hadn't. French Toast - good, hard to mess up French toast

The inviting atmosphere is maintained by an extremely dedicated and attentive staff with a good sense of humor and a very friendly attitude. The food tastes delicious and is a great deal compared to local alternatives like IHOP and waffle house, while exceeding the quality of such chains. I wish I lived close enough to be a regular, they really make an effort to get to know you. Remember to bring cash, and ask for your beverage in a to-go cup when you're ready to leave, this is one of my favorite perks at this establishment.

Not really sure what the other two reviewers ate, but I could not stomach the breakfast (nor could my husband eat his, and he can eat ANYTHING) I was served at Munch's. I tried to order the Munch Muffin but they were out of English Muffins (WTH??) so I ordered the ham and egg breakfast sandwich on toasted wheat with a side of sliced tomatoes. (which were sliced so thin, I'm not sure if they were really there, or if I just halucinated) The toast really wasn't, more like warm bread. One hard cooked egg, and get this, one piece of salt lick ham. No cheese or condiments whatsoever. It was simply the saddest sammy I have ever seen. His was even worse. It was described as eggs cooked to your liking served over cheddar cheese grits topped with parmesean cheese. There was nothing "cheddar cheese" about the grits, plain ole tasteless grits. We promptly picked up our paper and went to pay the bill. Cash only, not posted ANYWHERE, so it was a good thing that we had some, cause we're hardcore plastic users.

Ok I found it, took 2 visits but i found it. First the fried green tomatoes, I would never watch that shit of a movie, but after eating it at Munch's Im Netflixin it. Round 2, chicken fried steak? Shut it down kiddos, call your mother, meet her in a vacant parking lot and slap her in the mouth. I don't frost my tips like Guy Fieri, but I know good when I eat it. It's good

LOVE this place! We go for breakfast once each month. CASH ONLY. I try different things - sometimes the specials and other menu selections. I have never had a bad meal or experience there. Phillip orders Edna's platter each time and LOVES it and their potatoes. As usual, we split a pancake that is always tasty and filling.

A diner from the past, loyal customers and a great wait staff (some who have been here for 30 years). Had the Brown Sugar Maple sausage with two eggs, toast (out of biscuits) and grits. Best sausage I've had in a while.I've heard raves about their fried chicken and Much Burger, I'll have to try that next. I saw they have Cincinnati-style spaghetti which I've seen on food shows. Fun place, they have the original counter and the sell used books at the register. It IS cash-only, so leave home without some. Besides, their prices are quite reasonable here, it won't set you back.

Ok - So I saw the episode of Triple D last week, and it looked like Guy really enjoyed the food here. So my better half and I decided to go. First, they do not accept any credit or debit cards! Cash only! we waited about 10 minutes for a table and ended up near the kitchen / bar area. Johnny orderes the chipped beed (which Guy ordered and loved) and I ordered the New Orleans Omlette. The description of my food said it was made with home-made corned beef hash and swiss cheese. I asked the server if I could have another kind of cheese, as I do not like swiss, and she said "it's white american - the label says swiss but it's white american." Confused I asked her to explain, she repeated again that the cheese is labled swiss but to her it tastes like white american - and that I would like it. Not wanting to take a chance, I opted for cheddar and said no thank you to the "take a chance cheese" she offered. While waiting for our food I noticed that the servers are the ones who toast and butter the bread to order. Sounds like a great way to help the kitchen staff, however, they are handling the bread with dirty hands! I watched one server handle money, then grab two slices of bread and place them in the toaster. She sis not wash her hands! That is disgusting! We finally get our food and I am less than impressed. I had to squint and pull apart my onlette to see the "homemade corned beef hash". It was not homemade hash. It was most certainly 100% out of a can! HUGE pet peeve of mine! My omlette lacked flavor and attention. The middle was somewhat runny and tasted like nothing. Johnny's chipped beef left a lot to be desired too. Our server came by to see how things were and O told her I did not like my food, and also that there was no hash to speak of in the omlette. She came back over several minutes later with about two tablespoons worth of corned beef hash. As if I was supposed to be excited to see what looked like catfood on a plate to accompany my tastless eggs. Not so much. She didn't offer to take my meal off or split it 50/50 since I did eat the tastless potatoes and the english muffin, which by the way cost me an additional 95 cents! Can you believe that?? To have the nerve to serve corned beef hash out of a can, call it home made, charge $8.00 for the breakfast AND THEN charge 95 cents for an english muffin?!!? Wow - HUGE profit for them in that meal! All in all it was two thumbs down. The food was terrible, service left a lot to be desired. If you are looking for a really good place for breakfast in the St. Petersburg area I HIGHLY recommend Beverley's La Croisette on St. Pete Beach! You will not be disappointed there!

Having watched the Food Channel for a while, I searched to see what local places had been featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. One Saturday morning I had some time, so I decided to try out Breakfast at Munch's. It is an OLD Diner/Dive that looks like it has been around since 1952, but is a well-loved local hang-out. Since I was solo, I decided to sit at the counter. I don't fit well in booths, as I'm a big guy (6'3" and over 350). Not the best choice, I should have taken one of the few tables. The waitress appeared to have been there for a long time -- she was friendly and seemed to enjoy working there. I ordered a Smoked Sausage, Mushroom and Swiss omlette with Home Fried potatoes and a biscuit. It was very good, extremely filling and was priced at under $7. The biscuit was especially good -- fluffy and tender. I plan on going back to try the lunch sometime.

We decided to check out this place since it was on the diners and dives web site. We were in town from Denver so figured we had to try one off the list. The waitress brought me some fried green tomatoes to try since we never had before. They were very good and she was very polite and attentive. The food overall was good. It didn't blow my socks off but it satisfied my appetite and inexpensively which was nice for a change. I will probably return if I'm in the area again and want to save some of my tourist dollars.

I have no idea why Guy Fieri raved about their chipped beef. I like chipped beef and it was something I looked forward to for breakfast when I was in the Army. It's about the worst I've ever had. I actually asked if it had sour cream in it because of how sour it was. The coffee tasted like it was a week old and was burnt. There's a reason the place was empty when I went there at 7:30 this morning. Looking back, I have no idea why I tipped the waitress anything. I was not offered something else when I complained about the coffee or the food. I won't be back.

My Munch's memories from the last 20 years are all very warm and fuzzy. French toast, sausage, home fries and eggs with my Grandma after church on Sundays. Senior skip day from high school ordering Munch burgers, fried green tomatoes and triple thick milk shakes. Brunches with coworkers gobbling up fried chicken and hot cakes. Munch's is the St. Pete dive diner with the most history, character and consistency. Every order looks and tastes just as I remember it and some of the waitresses have been there decades. I have a Munch Burger tie dye t-shirt and an "Eat at Munch's" bright orange bumper sticker. To a tourist, Munch's may be just like any other diner. To a St. Peter native, it's a part of city history.

Too bad you can't give 1/2 stars on here. Munch's is one of the places that has been around a long time and just does what it does. It's not changing for anyone no matter how much tastes change. If you are in the mood for a home-cooked breakfast without any frills, go here. I've never had a bad meal so I have no idea what the other people below are talking about. Saw them featured on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on The Food Channel, so I decided to check them out when I went back home for vacation. My buddy picked me up at Tampa International and we headed to Munch's for breakfast. Got there right when they opened. Walked into the place and all we kept smelling was cigarette smoke from the back kitchen or wherever. We both ordered the hash breakfast. Food came quickly, but wasn't impressed with any of it at all. The portions were very small and didn't have much flavor. No wonder the price was $5 - $6 for each breakfast. Should've gone to Cracker Barrel for a good breakfast instead. Won't be going back to Munch's again.

We love this restaurant for breakfast. We have been there on every visit to St. Petersburg. The service is fast and efficient. The food is consistently good. Our favorite is 2 eggs over easy with bacon and red bliss potatoes. The potatoes are the best we have ever had at a breakfast restaurant. The bacon is always cooked perfectly crisp. And the eggs are exactly over easy every time. And of course the toast is hot as it is served. You get a never ending cup of hot coffee in a thick porcelin mug. And if you're into a cheap breakfast they have a special 3 times a week which includes coffee for just over $2.00. I think Monday is French Toast, Wednesday is pancakes and Friday is eggs and grits. You can't go wrong with that. It is an old style diner with counter service to the right as you walk in and booths and tables to the right. Ruthie is our favorite waitress and even though we only visit St. Pete a couple of times a year, she always remembers our order. She is amazing. On Fridays they start barbecuing in a giant outside grill. We always say we're going to have lunch there but for whatever reason we never do. Hopefully our next visit we will get there for lunch. Oh, and if your name is on the board when you walk in you get a free meal. Good luck.

Sunday 2/5/12 1st off the place was clean and friendly The breakfast was good Pam Anderson was tending the men's room duties (you'l see when you use the rest room) They have been around for 60 years nice family business Owner loves to fish...so hence the 2/pm closing time They are riding the wave of their DDD appearance in a good way I will go back for the lunch and review again I'd recommend it for a try of your own Remember it was clean! Monday 2/6/12 OK so we were in the area at lunch time and decided to try Munchs for lunch...when we walked in we were greeted like old friends We sat at the lunch counter and chatted again w/the owner, hostess and other customers...really friendly place We started w/the fried green tomatoes (a full plate full, golden brown and very tasty...not greasy at all) Nancy had the burger which she enjoyed and I had the Chicken ala King (plenty of meat, flavorful gravy, peas carrots & spuds on a fresh biscuit & a side of greens) I have given this 4 stars and a must to try Also, Fabio attends to the ladies room I was informed! By the way check my reviews for the awesome custard shop next door w/the best custard you will ever taste This location both Munchs & The Custard Shop would be the place you think about if you grew up in the area and had moved away!

It's good

The biscuits are as seductive as the fresh perfume of coffee. Indulge in the cacophony of regulars and waitresses. Even for those nomadic by nature you will find the comfort of home inside this little sundries paradise.

As long as I live, I don't think I'll ever forget Munchs and the home style flavors. Authentic Pot Roast rivaled my grandmothers dish (sorry Grandma). The real award winner though was the Cheeseburger Soup. That's right...Cheeseburger Soup. It was comfort in a bowl. I didn't want it to ever end! Whatever you do, don't miss Munchs. It is a real treat! tripadvisor.com/ShowUser…

This DDD hot spot did not disappoint, and I will return since there were about 10000 things on the menu that looked so good. We got the fried green tomatoes (FGT) to start, and was a bit hesitant because every fried green tomato I have gotten I have never liked. Well let me now stand corrected because these things were AMAZING! do yourself a favor and get them and forget all past experiences with a FGT, and be amazed. I got the sloppy joe for my meal. Hwo doesnt need one of those from time to time? lol. It was good and also did not disappoint. The cucumber salad was a winner as well. CASH ONLY!!!!!!

Firstly, this place is cash only. However, there's an ATM inside though, so all is well. This place is super dive-y. The decor is delightfully tacky and clearly hasn't been updated since this opening in the 50s. I ordered an omelette named after a man. (Billy's omelette maybe?) It was packed full of sausage and mushrooms and happiness. With it, I had hash browns (kind of bland) and toast (beware if the buttery-ness) as sides. I also tried one if their biscuits because it just felt right. That biscuit was a warm and moist situation of epic tastiness. I was so satisfied with this meal. Our waitress wasn't great, but the food made up for it.

In the greasy spoon diner fare category, this is a 5 star breakfast joint. Traditional soda fountain, counter service, vintage vibe. Best sausage around. Not quite as good for lunch, but best breakfast in town.

My second time here but my first time having their Fried Chicken! WOW! I've been to The Lady and Sons in Savannah, GA and had Paula Dean's fried chicken and simply put; Munch's fried chicken is FAR better in every way possible! A must have on Tuesday or Saturday!

A friend who lives 5 mins away from here brought me & my sister here last week when we were on vacation and this place is great! A week later and I'm still thinking about their omelette, red bliss potatoes and biscuits! We came twice while on vacation and it's got that diner feel to it & everyone was really friendly. They only take cash, so be prepared before you go (they have an ATM inside of you need it). Never got around to trying the DDD specials - maybe next time :)

Go Here! This is an authentic old Florida breakfast diner. They are cash only and offer a Name of the Day program where you get a free breakfast if your name is the one the board. You can make a meal of the biscuits. Its comfort food not fine dining. Very good prices and very friendly down-to-earth staff. Its locally owned.

I came in 10 minutes before they closed expecting to be turned away or at least be given scolded looks from the staff for making them stay longer. The only thing I got was wonderful welcoming smilies and the constant reassurance that it's ok. I'm from Texas and we pride ourselves on hospitality but these ladies really gave me a dose of home! The food was amazing and the strawberry shake made with real ice cream hit the spot! I am so happy I made it out to the wonderful restaurant and stress to anyone considering you should do it no hesitation!

There's so much to be said I don't know where to start. Walking into this place is so nostalgic. It really encompasses the old time diner feel. The omelettes are so big you can make two meals out of one! The homemade biscuits are to die for. They're the size of a brick and so light and airy. Makes the 45 minute drive there totally worth it for that biscuit alone. Food wise, I've always been happy with everything I've had. I deducted one star because of the lack of parking and the service isn't always that great. You can have amazing food but when it's served with a snippy attitude and a lack of coffee refills, it can ruin your experience.

the best smoked ribs I've ever had! I bbq and smoke all kings of meats for over 40 yrs myself These are dry rubbed and you get bbq sauce on the side if you MUST. like all of you I have a belly button also... but these (to me) are 2 thumbs up ....WAY UP!!!! They also have Goo Goo Cluster candy bars ... just because we asked... that's SERVICE!

Munch's isn't the best breakfast cafe in St Pete but it is absolutely the best for the price. You can spend $5 and come out stuffed until late afternoon. There is nothing in particular that I like at Munch's. I haven't had anything exception but everything I've had was delicious. I don't understand who can go to those fancy places along Parkshore Drive when there are so many great dinners in St Pete like Munch's.

We've been here twice now, are from Chgo & found this place on one of the food shows. You feel like you're back in the 50's diner. Food....excellent Service.....excellent Staff.......very friendly They sell a lot of old time candy you don't see anymore Check this place out, its worth it!!

This place is awesome! I went here because it was featured on one of my favorite shows: Diner's, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Also, I live less than 2 minutes away from here. We were greeted at the door and instructed to find a seat wherever we liked, so we say at the counter. My BF and I ordered our food at 1:03 and had our food by 1:10! Woah! He ordered the Philly Cheesesteak and I had the Chocolate Chip pancakes with a side of bacon. We loved everything and the servings were huge! Also, the entire staff was friendly, nice, and extremely attentive. Our drinks never went halfway empty without being refilled and we were checked on very often! We will be returning because we love diners and this place was awesome! Heads up: they only accept cash but they have an ATM inside their store.

A unique, charismatic diner tucked away in the quieter reaches of St. Pete. Breakfast is truly "homestyle" and delicious. Get your hands on the fried chicken if it's available - some of the best around!

The very essence of old-school "diner cuisine". The place is saturated with history..... If you like diner-chic this place will satisfy 100%. I was not aware of its 'Diners, Drive-In's and Dives' appearance before I went - but they play it up pretty heavy. There even a huge signed poster of Guy Fieri on the wall. Despite the hype, they have kept the place retro....good to see. For breakfast, I wanted to try lots of options so I ended up ordering WAY too much grub: Fried Green Tomatoes: At 3.25 for a massive order - this is a HUGE value, and a huge serving. Order one for the table to share - excellent! Pancakes: MEH. Waaaay to dense for my needs. I could only mow through about 1/3 of the stack. It was like eating a brick! Good enough taste-wise, but I like my cakes fluffy and moist. These are HEAVY, and the syrup is served cold. Imagine that cold syrup congealing over rapidly cooling plaster-like pancakes, things get unappetizing fast. Bacon: MEH. Seems almost criminal to serve bacon this weak in a diner. The order consisted of three limp, warm strips served perfectly flat on a plate. Limp is an understatement. The bacon was probably the most flaccid I have ever been served. I felt actual pity for it when it arrived. Order it WELL DONE or "crispy". Hash Browns: Very Good! Exactly what one would expect. Biscuits & Gravy: SCORE!!! Probably in my top three B&G's I have *ever* had. As soon as it hit the table - you could tell it was good. Dark and rich, chock FULL of sausage, on home-made biscuits. This was the highlight of my visit and the star of the show. Highest recommendation! This place rocks 4 stars for the atmosphere and very friendly and fast service. It's fun to eat here! Talk about unique...I'll bring folks from outta town to check this place out for sure. The "famous Munch Burgers" are next on my list to try!

We went there around 1:30 husband wanted catfish & grits, couldn't get biscuit they ran out so had toast. I had meatloaf & mashed potatoes. Both was the worst for the cost. $9.25 for small 1piece of fish & small bowl of grits. Meatloaf was nothing more than a slab of fried hamburger with gravy, NO taste. Service was horrible. Bad bad bad. WON'T GO BACK!!!!!

I was excited about this place since it had been on diners drive ins and dives. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but the blue berry pancakes were good but nothing to write home about. I had just been to a similar "mom and pop" place in Boston that got breakfast so much more right that I couldn't really enjoy this place. Also a question of cleanliness when they put a stuffed animal on your table if it is your birthday and sing to you....

Try their fried green tomatoes, one of my favorites. Munch's is small & can get quite busy, but worth the wait. The food is yummy and the portions are satisfying. Love the breakfasts & the Munchburgers. Nice variety of food to chose from. Just go, relax & enjoy.

Ive only been for breakfast but rumor has it they make a killer shepards pie, pork dinner and friend chicken. I go for the texas hash and triple D special (they were featured on ddd). Fast an friendly service to accompany home cooked satisfying food.

Munch's is a small tacky dinner that you would probably drive past and never notice. Trust me; this one is worth seeking out. You will walk in and feel like you are in a used book store or maybe even a flea market; but do not be scared away. The wait staff are sweet and efficient. Munch's definitely has a "Mom and Pop" feel. The walls are also full of local paraphernalia and business cards that are entertaining to look at it while you wait. They have incredibly good homemade breakfast. I highly recommend their huge, fluffy biscuits (the best I have tried in the area) and their homemade sausage (it comes in original and maple I believe, both are great). I normally order "Edna's Platter" which has biscuits with ham, eggs and gravy piled on top. You will leave feeling full and it won't kill your wallet (by the way, CASH ONLY). The breakfast at Munch's leaves me wanting to try their lunch and dinner.

We are huge fans of Munch's! My boyfriend has been going to Munch's for over 20+ years and I'm hooked! I love the people that work there and the perfect local diner atmosphere. It's far from being a "chain" - family owned and some of the folks have worked there for years! Love it all from the Potatoes O'Brien to their Texas hash... I also love all the old photos of classrooms and retro things all over.

Man is this place awesome! As old school FL as you can get, prices that can't be beat, and the food is heavenly! I feel ashamed that I am a Pinellas county native and had never been here prior to this year. I will not make that mistake again. I tried some of their BBQ at a craft show I was vending at and vowed to go find this place. Then my hubby saw it on DDD and we had to check it out! I'm super picky about certain kinds of foods, of which is a Sloppy Joe. Their Sloppy Joe is perfection for me!! My only problem is that I want to get the stuff I had before that I loved and am craving, but the specials and other menu items all look so good! Make sure you go on BBQ day because their chef is a bbq master! Oh, and if a sweet waitress walks by and asks if you would like some fried green tomatoes, you say YES!!!!

mobile review FOOD FIND is how you describe a place like this one. Smoke barbecue ribs on, Fridays only, rank up with the best we have had in Kansas City. The Ribs are just that good. Very meaty spareribs with the tips on, long bones. Do yourself a favor and go here. Prices are affordable. I would suggest avoiding the rush hours. Atmosphere is old-time and will set you back to the 50' n 60' era. Counter stools, table and chairs and booths of yester years goneby. Meatloaf dinner, tasty not fatty or greasy. Texas Hash , and creamed chipped beef, we're Seen on diner drive-ins and dives. I suggest trying all the above. HIGHLY RECOMMEND *****

My husbund wanted to try this place after watching the feature on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. We ordered whatever he saw on the show, one was Texas hash and the other one was Cream Chipped Beef. The cream chipped beef was good, very heavy gravy and tender beef over toasts. I wish there was more meat in it though. Texas Hash was alright, nothing special actually. These are on their breakfast menu but you can order anytime. The gentleman next to me was having a burger, which looked really good. They also have a sign on the door says "Voted the best fried chicken" on a piece of paper...I have no idea who voted or in what area whatsoever. However I take thier word and next time I want to try their fried chicken ;) *Featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives

It's not going to blow your mind but it's not a bad meal either.

Good luck.

Friendly staff. Just get the Texas Hash. Best breakfast food I've had in a diner style restaurant.

Pretty okay place. I enjoy coming to mom and pops and we pretty much ran into this place. The food was okay, I had higher expectations but maybe I got the wrong food. Our eggs weren't cooked enough and I can still taste the moisture of eggs in the French toast. I'm not giving up on this place, next time I'll try their specials. Very friendly staff and the service was amazing.

I go far out of my way to eat here as often as I can. Just pure comfort. I love the nostalgic 60s/70s atmosphere and music they play, I love all the waitresses who remember me and my children by name, and I think their food is really good - solid American diner food with quite a few specialties that jump off the menu. I love their omelettes, the biscuits and gravy, and the fried green tomatoes are not to be missed. I've had their barbecue on Friday before and I was astounded at the size of my rib plate. I ate as much as I could and still took it home and got two more meals out of it... wow. The fried chicken on Tuesdays and Saturdays is also very special. This place can be slammed on the weekends, but for me the best time to go is early in the morning on a weekday - the warmth and good food will brighten you up, guaranteed.

Ive only been for breakfast but rumor has it they make a killer shepards pie, pork dinner and friend chicken. I go for the texas hash and triple D special (they were featured on ddd). Fast an friendly service to accompany home cooked satisfying food.

Try their fried green tomatoes, one of my favorites. Munch's is small & can get quite busy, but worth the wait. The food is yummy and the portions are satisfying. Love the breakfasts & the Munchburgers. Nice variety of food to chose from. Just go, relax & enjoy.

Great little place with Diner Charm and a good greasy burger. This place is a must visit at least once. I had a cheeseburger with fries which was exactly what I expect from a old school diner with all that charm. They don't skimp on anything, including the grease. I'd like to tell you how much my meal cost but I was in uniform and my tab was picked up. Not only is that a super nice thing to do as a patron wanting to show appreciation for military, but I also think that often the owner/manager picks up the tab and just tells us it was a customer. Either way, it is a genuine credit to the establishment that its owners and patrons are Red Blooded Americans.

I couldn't have been more disappointed. Me and my wife were excited to go to a triple d place in our hometown. We went there for breakfast and ordered the Texas hash and the blueberry pancakes. The Texas hash was just plain awful and the blueberry pancakes were at least edible but not good. The place on was gross and dirty. We were sticking to the seats and the tables were filthy. One of the biggest culinary letdowns i have ever experience. Go to Ted Peters or keegens in this area if you want to go to a GOOD triple d restaurant.

I lived in st Pete back in mid 90's for about 3 years and never heard nor tried this place. But since watching the show, Guys diners dives and drive in, I thought I give a shot. Price, very reasonable. Owner of the restaurant came by the table and took the drink order. Which was pretty cool! Definitely a place that's been around. They gave us a lunch menu but owner asked if we wanted breakfast. We said. Most definitely!! Food, we got the two dishes that was on the show. Texhash and chip beef. Both were good! Unique!! However their bisque was amazing!! Far more surprising than other dishes. I would come back and definitely recommend trying this place.

I went here by myself before a trip to the Dali. You can tell there are a lot of regulars (good sign). Got a eggs/sausage/grits breakfast with coffee.

It was exactly what I would expect at a breakfast place like this. Delish! At first I couldn't decide what I wanted so the waitress politely "told" me what I was getting haha. Love places like this and will be back!

Breakfast is the best in St Pete. The maple and brown sugar sausage calls my name on weekends. Step back in time to a restaurant that is part of the neighborhood and cooks like a favorite family member!

Barbeque Fridays! I can't say it enough...you've got to have some! Had ribs AND chicken today. Delicious. And the place gets sinent the more pulled pork that comes out and people dive in! Everybody's happy! And, of course, just as appetizing and a pleasure is Carmen taking care of us with a smile! :))

I live around the corner and have eaten at munches 3 times, all were horrible. Completely overrated! Soggy toast with fake butter, dirty, and gross! So many better places in St. Pete! Guy from DDD eats and loves every place he eats at, look at him! Guy sucks and so does Munches.

(Note: Cash only/ATM just inside front door)

This place has so much old time character! This was the second time we stopped and it was just as good as the first time. We wanted a hardy breakfast and we found it. I had the Texas hash and pot roast chipped beef on toast. I was talked into the Texas hash by the waitress, but if I were to do it again, I would go with the regular hash. The Texas hash has smoked chicken instead of corned beef and while very flavorful, it was just a bit dry due to the meat change. I grew up eating chipped beef on toast and was surprised to find it here. They use pot roast instead of dried beef which is a nice addition. The pot roast makes the gravy more of a brown gravy which was full of flavor as well. We left stuffed and happy. I look forward to returning.

I've been here twice. Really good fried chicken and mashed potatoes the first time. The second time I went with the French dip...meh, it was passable. But I should have stuck to southern cooking. This is definitely a must do if in St Pete. It is an American Classic. Even the candy selection is a blast from the past.
